Creme Fresh - Macclesfield
History
“A grilled outfall discharges into the River Bollin and leads up to a set of concrete steps designed to slow water flow during heavy conditions. The channel is also grated from above, with some sections covered in debris, evidence of what this place looks like after severe weather. Above the steps sits a processing unit that prevents solid sewage waste from overflowing into the river if the channel exceeds capacity. A ladder leads to a platform above, featuring several access shafts for inspections. Behind the platform, a steep set of steps leads to another manhole. Beneath it, a ladder descends to two platforms where two sewer channels converge, flowing downstream to the processor”.
