Typhoo Tea Factory - Liverpool
History
“The former Typhoo Tea factory was once a thriving symbol of British industry. Built by Cadbury in 1952 and fully taken over by Typhoo by 1978, it became the UK’s largest own-label tea packer, employing over 4,000 people and producing 12,000 tonnes of tea annually. Over time, rising costs and declining demand led to its closure in 2023, with around 90 jobs lost. The site was later sold in 2024 for £4.3 million. That same year, Typhoo entered administration and was acquired by Supreme, a vape maker, which plans to revive the brand through outsourced production”.
