Pilkingtons glass HQ - St Helens

History

This building served as a HQ to the glass making company Pilkington for over 40 years until the company relocated to one of its other facilities near Ormskirk. The company was founded in 1826 and became a major employer of the area, It served as the headquarters for more than 40 years and was acquired by a competing glass company in 2006, back then the business was valued to be worth around £1.8 billion. There were 125 Pilkington staff who were moved to their Ormskirk site, The site sat partially abandoned until its recent sale to local developers who plan on turning the area into flats. The site is pretty bare with most of it stripped back to its base structure.
